“The No. 1 key point is that every single one of the companies that has excelled at employee relations has made it a key commitment,” Kleiman said.
Improving recruiting, hiring and retention starts when companies make the commitment to become a five-star employer.
“Are you committed to being a place where great employees want to work? That’s the key. If you’re not committed to being a place where great employees want to work, why should great employees want to come to work for you? That’s the driving point. Make the decision,” he said.
When you make the decision to move in a certain direction, it’s easier to eliminate all other ideas that go against that plan. If you’ve decided to become a star employer, then it becomes easier to start rejecting anything that isn’t moving you in the direction of that goal. This is why making the commitment is an important first step that signals to the whole chain that this is a priority that shapes the way your company does business.
