Alan J. Thiemann serves as Counsel to the Seattle law firm, Han Santos, PLLC, which is a technology/IP firm. Thiemann leads the firm’s Privacy/Cybersecurity practice group, but also handle trademark and copyright work, IP licensing, and business transactions.
Thiemann also serves as General Counsel (since 1995) to Conexxus, Inc., the technology standards arm of the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS). In that capacity, he has represented Conexxus/NACS on the ANSI-accredited standards bodies for financial services (ASC X9) and for mobile identifiers (INCITS), where he has participated in developing U.S. and international standards.
Thiemann has represented NACS since 1985 on a variety of industry legal issues, including employment, tax, environmental, and card payments. Previously, Thiemann served as General Counsel to the National Association of Truck Stop Operators (1984-1987), and litigation counsel for the American Truckers Associations (1979-1982), as well as representing the National Association of Chain Drug Stores on various regulatory matters.
