Michael Meyer currently serves as Facility Operations Officer for Meyer Oil Co in Teutopolis, Ill., which owns and operates the Mach1 convenience store chain.
Meyer Oil Co was established in 1975 by Randy Meyer and Terry Meyer with a single site and fertilizer business and has grown to operating 18 retail sites in central and southern Illinois with ownership stake in another four units. Meyer Oil’s growth started in the early 2000’s and has been escalated over the last five years.
Mach1 prides itself at offering as many mini-profit centers at a given facility (i.e. carwash, truck diesel, alcohol). In 2012, the company rolled out a proprietary loyalty card to its customers and the success was so great, it is now a topic of conversation almost daily.
With the combined success of having all the mini-profit centers and its loyalty program, Mach1 now has the opportunity to offer its customers the best prices available in the market to better serve its customers.
Mike entered the family business in 2008 after working in the retail sector for Sears. At Meyer Oil, Mike has taken on various responsibilities ranging from area supervisor to loss prevention to data analysis. Currently, Mike has three primary roles throughout the company. First is to oversee carwash operations where the company has 14 sites with in-bays automatics and some with manual wash bays. He is the buyer/marketer for the beer, wine, and spirits division at 10 sites with most exceeding 2,000 square feet of dedicated retail space to the category. Finally, he oversees the maintenance department for the company by dispatching or scheduling service with third-party contractors.
Mike works hand in hand with his brother, Alan Meyer, and cousin, Jake Meyer, and together are working to continue the success their fathers are passing on to them. He is married to Ana and has three children, Addison, Kason and Emmy.
