NAG was founded by Hugh Howton, owner of Pik-a-Pak Grocery Corp., New Orleans, Louisiana in 1984.

As an advocate for the convenience and fuel retailing industry, Howton saw an unmet need to bond smaller and family owned retailers across the country. Under his leadership, NAG Convenience was born to provide fellowship and support for these business owners, their families, and their employees.
