The Young Executives Organization (YEO) will help emerging leaders understand and appreciate all aspects of the c-store business through educational sessions and networking with experienced industry leaders. This is a valuable component for long-term growth, both personally and professionally. Members will also be encouraged to gain a broader understanding of the industry to gain the skill sets needed to lead new departments and new business initiatives. This is essential for future leaders who may one day make the decisions that shape your organization.
Challenge Them With Real Business Situations
Placing your future leaders in real business situations as YEO does with Information Exchanges and workshop sessions will push and stretch them as much as possible while they attempt to solve or overcome the challenges presented. Furthermore, YEO members will be able to do this with their peers in the industry under the watchful eye of current industry executives. The goal is to expand their capabilities and capacities as well as develop their critical thinking skills and creativity when faced with unfamiliar tasks.
Provide Mentoring and Coaching
Young leaders should feel that there is someone they can turn to for advice, guidance, and support on a professional level. At YEO, next-generation leaders will have the opportunity to receive mentoring, coaching and career advice from current industry leaders, as well as interact with executives and young professionals in other companies. Developing a structured pipeline for leadership development gives young executives a platform to express their ideas, leadership abilities and vision for the future of convenience retailing. Hear what YEO members have to say about YEO membership:
“Since first joining the YEO organization in 2015 I have found membership to be a continually valuable resource and source for professional development for me, as a young leader. YEO provides development and networking resources and opportunities specific to convenience retail in a uniquely beneficial way that cannot be found elsewhere in our industry. The broader all-industry oriented NAG organization is also uniquely structured and tailor fit to provide retailer value in a way that has no industry parallel. NAG is securely at the top of my ‘Must Attend/Cannot Miss’ list of industry organizations and events.”
– Jeremie Myhern, Chief Information Office, Road Ranger, YEO Board Chairman
“Some of the best connections I’ve made in the industry have come from my time working with YEO and NAG. YEO’s baseline purpose is to provide an accelerated development and exposure path for young convenience industry leaders. The events and meetings offer consistent value and learning opportunities for everyone involved. I highly recommend participating in YEO and NAG. You will leave these events with more industry knowledge, amazing contacts, and you’ll have a great time doing it.”
– Bart Stransky, Vice President of Merchandising, RaceTrac Petroleum
“The National Advisory Group (NAG) has been a driving force behind connecting the industry’s top innovators. Through the Young Executives Organization (YEO), NAG has been instrumental in the development of our industry’s next generation of leaders.”
– Alex Olympidis, President, Family Express, and founding Board Member of the Young Executives Organization (YEO)
“I love attending NAG and YEO events because they offer a great way to connect with convenience store leaders and future industry leaders at the regional and local levels. We share so many of the same pains and gains. NAG and YEO give us the ability to connect and share and learn from these experiences. Every time I leave a NAG or YEO event, I come back with new ideas that helps improve our business and enhance my professional growth.”
– Cole Fountain, Director of Merchandise, Gate Petroleum
